Baby shoes

I'm going shopping to buy my little baby his first pair of slippers/shoes. Ben saw the physio today who said he could start to have some time out of his brace now. Definitely to keep it on overnight and for all naps and any length of time he's not doing anything, like in the car, out shopping etc, but he can have some freedom! I haven't been able to buy him any little shoes so far as he's always been in casts or his brace so I think he needs some baby trainers to celebrate :)

On an annoying note, he wasn't due to see the consultant until December, but his appointment last month with the physio wasn't very productive as he keeps escaping the brace - even though he is buckled and tightly laced, I don't know how he gets his feet out of the shoes - anyway, she wasn't sure if there was a different appliance we could try, so made me an appointment for today to see him. So, I get the kids ready, survive the waiting room and he's on holiday for the whole of October, so it was a waste of time!

Jack sees the same ortho so I asked if she could check the doctor's list as I was told his surgery was going to be 23rd October and haven't had any paperwork. Well, that's because they changed it to the 28th November and didn't bother to let me know. Oh well, at least he's not in hospital again for his birthday (21st Nov) like last year. Still, they could have told me.

There are still concerns with Ben's feet due to the shape and position, which may need further surgery (consultant makes that call though), but apparently the brace has done as much as it can for now and he won't benefit further in wearing it 24/7.

Other good news, Katie had a thoroughly brilliant time at toddler groups this week and the building inspector has signed off on our kitchen extension. We still need to get the electrics officially tested, but that is a huge weight off our minds, worrying about any changes they might have made us make or work to do/redo. No more inspections and we can finally complete the bathroom now. We couldn't make any progress before as the floor is being tiled and that can't be done until the electrics have been tested as they need access to the floorboards. Once they give the all clear, we can do the bathroom floor, then tile the walls and the bathroom will be done. Tony is trying to do as much as he can by christmas. Jack's room was papered last weekend, maybe it will be finished on Sunday and then Ben can move in with him and we get our bedroom and child free sanctuary back!
